If you’re not aware, Adobe now has it’s own AJAX/Javascript library called SPRY for you to use and better yet they include this with Dreamweaver CS3. I assume that you already probably know of or use SPRY.

Until now I never realised this, but in Windows XP whilst it can write a CD natively, it can’t do the same for DVD’s. How shit is that? You would have thought that with various patches and service packs this would be the case. Just how far out of touch is Microsoft?

If like me the you can’t see the point in getting Vista (its more a step back than forwards) then you’re left with only one choice after trawling the internet relentlessly and thats to get additional software, like Nero, Roxio etc..

Or you could try my solution, which no-one lists….

Get Ubuntu/ Linux or Mac OS X! Both burn DVD’s natively along with many other features and they generally run much faster/better too! :) Ubuntu is also free, which is a great choice providing that you’re an average PC/office user and can always run it on a dual-boot (you don’t need to get rid of Windows) and you can still access all those files that you need. Problem solved! Which reminds me that I should get round to installing it on my laptop.

Win-Do’h!

A legitimate way to waste time, and another great physics puzzle, given to us here by the Science Museum

A simple tutorial to work on duplicating layers, the eraser tool, hue and saturation, desaturating images (converting to black and white) and a quick look at a blur filter.

Intended as a starting point for novices, to produce very quick results, this will introduce you to some very basic ways to colour correct parts of an image and in the example I show you how to convert an image to black and white but leave a person/object still in colour.

In the name of highly addictive ‘casual’ gaming I present this, may all your lives, like my own, now shrivel up during your addiction to this game. I’m at level 15 currently, so if you need solutions let me know :)

The aim is to get a blob thing to a goal using various wheels and sticks…

Or rather how to lose friends and alienate people…

So you don’t know how to really use Photoshop, but you want to take the piss out of your work mates by placing their head in/on another photo? This is by no means the best way, but it’s certainly one of the quickest and it will introduce you to a world of possibilities I’m sure…

Do you like Bill Bailey?

Want to see him at the Royal Albert Hall on the 15th October?

Single AND female?

Want a free human male for the evening with the ticket?

Then bid to win a date with my housemate here.

A very useful utility to add on to ATG when launched in JBoss (or probably any other platform like Weblogic). Displays logs in nice pretty colours – avoid the red, no one wants to see it!

Can be found here on source forge

.

Download, install/ move to suitable directory and the run on the end of your JBoss/ATG start up script.

e.g. for the default ATG startup in windows command prompt use:

C:\ATG\ATG2007.1\home\bin\startDynamoOnJBOSS -c default -f -run-in-place -m myProjectName | C:\ATG\ATGLogColorizer.exe

Highly addictive – at least for me anyway and in my opinion one of the best online games out there.

Kill zombies here

First take one shotgun, use it to break up the ghoul...

It looks awesome, I was a big big fan of Fallout 1, traded it in to get Fallout 2 which I’ve even played again recently and ended up getting another copy of Fallout 1!! Fallout is everything you could ask for in a RPG and I feel is a subject area often neglected by studios who seem to concentrate on pushing fantasy crap like WarCrack. So lets hope that the move to Bethedsa from the original Black Isle/Interplay outfit will continue to build on the Fallout universe. Although graphically far more impressive it was never about graphics originally but the ability to freely evolve a character by near unlimited options in the story line and explore an environment that could be a near future.

Personally in the format wars I’m torn between staying faithful and getting it on PC or for my PS3, I am disappointed that yet again updates will not be included for the PS3. But this is probably the only game that is worth paying full price for and I’ve also taken 2 days off from work to play this solidly, so either way I’ll still be playing it.

But in the end will I be let down?… I’ve heard rumours of content being limited e.g unable to kill children and NPC’s and that the gameplay will suffer outside a turn based environment. Perhaps it will be another Oblivion clone, but then I never played Oblivion…

In the meantime I’ve been busy with Spore, another game I’ve been waiting eons for.
